Our mission begins through our core belief in helping YOU get to the future first. It is this belief and working with forward thinking thought leaders and clients that has moved the center from a small start-up at the University of Dayton, to one of the nation leaders in lean learning events.

Our history started at The University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio in 1986. Under the entrepreneurial leadership of Ms. Carol Shaw, The Center for Competitive Change has grown to become one of the leaders in manufacturing lean education and consulting services. With this introduction of lean learning, by 1989 The University of Dayton became the first university in the nation to conduct a full-Kaizen program with the Shingitjutsu master, Mr. Chihiro Nakao. The University promptly conducted Kaizen training for business leaders, consultants as well as many of its own faculty. This led to the beginning of the Center’s offerings of public and private Kaizen programs. By 1993, the Center parlayed its growing reputation in the industry by offering several learning events on lean manufacturing, maintenance and reliability, visual workplace and other leading-edge lean topics for the manufacturing industry.

In 1999, the Center broadened its offerings to include more world-class seminars for business and industry. Today we’re working side-by side with many companies to help improve the way they conduct their business practices and processes – building a lean, competitive enterprise. The Center has the most comprehensive education package in lean and reliability available anywhere and we have helped to save our clients millions of dollars.

Trained by the Japanese Masters
The Center’s team includes 33 leading experts in the fields of reliability, lean manufacturing, Administrative Kaizen, ISO. When we speak about practicing experts, our facilitators, coaches and consultants continue to work with clients worldwide in their field of expertise. They write leading books and articles for professional journals, as well as actively spend the majority of their time with you, the client, training and consulting to improve your business processes – growth outcomes.
